Core Promises

The ongoing focus of the board is continuous and demonstrable improvement in the Core Promises of a classical and Christian education as outlined in our by-laws and Policy Governance Manual. The board acknowledges that these core promises are essentially met, delivered and executed through the board, staff and teachers; supported, monitored and reinforced through the parents, and realized in and through our students.  We acknowledge that these are indeed promises to our customers – the students and parents of CCS.  It is our goal and desire that every student realize the fulfillment of a classical and Christian education.  The board values academic excellence; however, our first priority is that students grow in wisdom and discernment; develop and sharpen their worldview from a biblical perspective and grow spiritually. Therefore all plans aimed at improvement should focus on these desired outcomes first and foremost.

 

Staff:

Embodied in these core promises is the primary duty of staff and teachers to love their students and consistently demonstrate that love through their words and actions.  Teachers and staff should strive to inspire their students to learn, grow, and excel through encouragement and diligently seeking areas worthy of praise and acknowledgement.  Our staff and teachers must always model the behaviors we wish to see in our students, and they must be distinctively different reflecting the qualities of Christ to their students.

  • teach from a biblical worldview
  • teach subjects as an integrated whole
  • teach the grammar, logic, and rhetoric of all subjects

  • maintain respect for the individual
  • insist upon graciousness in all interactions
  • model as well as teach a biblically consistent education

  • engage in activities consistent with biblical truth

  • pursue academic excellence

Students & Parents:

The ability to achieve these core promises is often dependent upon the support of the family and the openness and eagerness of the student.  Notwithstanding this fact, creating an environment that welcomes, fosters and conveys these promises in practice, and facilitates a partnership between parent and staff that enhances the probability of realization.

Students:

  • understand the correlation of all subjects
  • demonstrate a command of the grammar, logic, and rhetoric of all subjects

The Board:

The board is the protector and defender of the mission and the foundational principles as outlined in the by-laws.  These are defined in Article III of the by-laws:  Statement of Faith, Educational Philosophy, and Organizational Philosophy.  The board is ultimately responsible and accountable for the school.

  • ensure policies are in harmony with by-laws
  • direct the long-term vision of the school
  • perform long-term planning
  • avoid becoming involved in daily operations
  • demonstrate ultimate responsibility for the school
  • approve curriculum changes
  • ensure the school has the necessary funds to operate
  • determine how funds will be distributed
  • assure faithful execution of educational programs and policies
  • determine and demand appropriate organizational performance
  • direct, control, and inspire the organization
  • never instruct personnel under the responsibility of the superintendent
  • never evaluate any staff other than the superintendent
  • systematically and rigorously monitor superintendent’s job performance
  • instruct the superintendent only through written policies
