Join Us for a Camp This Summer!

We are excited to invite students for our camps this summer! We have several Athletic and Academic Options. Read the descriptions below and then register by filling out this form for each of your children!

To register for any camp click here. All participants must turn in a completed Hold Harmless Form (found on your Veracross Parent Portal) to the camp instructor on the first day of camp.

 

Study of the Pentateuch (Parents) – This survey class will be broken up into four weeks. Logic School Bible teacher, Jon Payne, will walk parents through the Pentateuch (Genesis – Deuteronomy) over the course of four weeks. The classes will fall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and will be held in the Theater from 6:30 – 8:30 A.M. You may sign up for individual weeks for $75/week. 

    • May 31- June 2: We will cover the book of Genesis. 
    • June 7 – 9: We will cover the book of Exodus. 
    • June 14-16: We will cover Leviticus and Numbers. 
    • June 21-23: We will cover Deuteronomy. 

 

The Study of the Life of Christ (Parents) – This survey class will be broken up into four weeks. Logic School Bible teacher, Jon Payne, will walk parents through the Pentateuch (the Gospels and the life of Christ) over the course of four weeks.     • June 7 – 9: We will cover Jesus’ public ministry.
    • June 14-16: We will cover the last years of Jesus’ life (training the twelve).
    • June 21-23: We will cover Passion Week. 

 

Math Camp (Rising 3rd – 5th Graders) – This enrichment camp is for rising third through fifth grade students to prepare for the upcoming school year. Students will spend the week playing games and doing activities to practice math concepts through real life applications.

Phonics and Reading Camp (Rising 2nd Graders) – This camp will prepare students for 2nd Grade by reviewing phonics, syllable patterns, and spelling rules. The students will work on their reading fluency and accuracy during the week.

College Essay Bootcamp (Rising 12th Graders) – The College Essay Bootcamp will serve the class of 2023 through workshopping Common App essays before they begin their senior year coursework. By the end of the week, students will learn in-depth strategies for writing college essays, students will have personal time to workshop with Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Clarkson, and students will leave with a finished essay ready to submit. The cost is $215 per student. Students are required to bring a laptop and a notebook.

Grammar and Writing Workshop (Rising 7th – 10th Graders) – This workshop will serve incoming 7th through 9th grade students by preparing them to seamlessly enter Cary Christian School’s writing program. We will focus on elegant sentence structure and PIE essay format as we write about Edgar Allan Poe’s The Tell Tale Heart. We will learn how to order words in a sentence, use precise subjects and verbs, vary sentence structure, avoid passive voice and nominalization, punctuate properly, develop an argument, support our points with evidence, interpret and analyze literary passages, and proofread for unity and cohesion.

Summer Book Club (Rising 4th – 5th Graders) – We will read The Cricket in Times Square together and introduce the skill of journaling to actively engage with the text.  We will practice the art of asking questions, making predictions, taking notes, and having conversations with our peers in a fun, inviting setting.  Some reading may be required at home (minimal).

Grammar and Latin Workshop for Incoming Students (New Rising 4th – 6th Graders) – For incoming students in grades 4 – 6 this camp serves as a “crash course” in Shurley grammar and Latin. We will focus on parts of speech, jingles, classifying sentences, writing complete sentences, Latin vocabulary, and Latin sentence translation.

    • Dates: July 19 – 22
    • Time: 9:00 – 11:00 A.M.
    • Location: Room 116 on the CCS Grammar Hallway
    • Teacher: Kelly Gardner, Lower School Assistant Dean
    • Cost: Free for new students.

Logic School Drama Camp (Rising 6th – 9th Graders) This Classic Logic School Summer Drama Camp is designed to bring together different ages and experience levels in a concentrated, super-fun environment – culminating in a recital-type performance at the end of class on Friday.  Focus includes: Acting Basics; Scene Study; Character Development; Improv Games; Beginning Stage Combat; Sword Fighting Basics (safety swords). Because we carefully plan camp based on the roster, please note: Register as soon as possible to secure a spot. The registration and cancelation Deadline is July 4, 2022No refunds will be issued after this date.

The Art of Scrapbooking! (Rising 5th – 9th Grade Girls) – Come learn the basics of Scrapbooking as we discuss layout and design, color theory, journaling, basic photography and more.  Each student will come home with at least five unique pages and some basic tools to start their own collection.  Price includes cost of materials.

Boys Flag Football Camp (Rising 3rd – 4th Graders) – Flag football fun! Learn some essential football skills, play 5 v 5 games and more!  T-shirts and snacks included.

Girls Volleyball Camp (Rising 6th – 9th Graders) – CCS Volleyball Camp will offer introductory and more advanced skill instruction for middle school and rising high school players. This is a wonderful opportunity to try volleyball for all skill levels! Individual skills will be taught and practiced, and basic game play will be introduced. This is a great opportunity to prepare for the season ahead.

Wrestling Camp (Rising 3rd – 5th Grade Boys) – This camp will teach the  fundamental of wrestling. We will have appearances from Tommy Gant and Mike Machiavello, NC State varsity wrestlers and coaches as well. This is an introductory camp for these grades. If you were a part of Coach Sullivan’s winter camp it will be similar in scope to that class. It will be lots of fun!

The camp will be designed to refine the basics and learn attacks from the feet and grappling positions.
