Giving Thanks for Summer
Father, creator of all, thank you for summer! Thank you for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight. Thank you for the beauty I see all around me
and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy your creation. Thank you for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family, and for the more casual pace of the summer season. Draw me closer to you this summer. Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing. Warm my soul with the awareness of your presence and light my path with your Word and counsel. Wednesday, June 10 – Re-Threads Consignment Sale – Now is a great time to start gathering uniform pieces that kids have outgrown. This flyer will give you all the details on buying and selling. Mascot Name Reveal – With an incredible 800 votes cast from across our community, we are excited to officially introduce our new mascot: KNIGHTRO! You may notice a slight spelling upgrade; a fun way to highlight the “Knight” identity while making the name even clearer and more memorable.
Thank you to everyone who shared creative ideas, voted enthusiastically, and helped make this such a fun community-wide experience. This is just the beginning as we continue building something special for our beloved school! Enjoy the latest Reel Life at CCS of the big reveal!
CCS After School Care Program – Staff Interviews for 2026-2027 School Year – Are you 16 or older, energetic, love working with children, and ready to be a good role model to our Lower School students? If so, a job in our CCS After School Care Program may be for you. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Mrs. Hillsgrove.
June and July Options – CCS Summer Camps – Summer break is here! Remember to sign up for our great summer camps on the CCS Portal.
2026-2027 Uniforms – Refer to the 2026-2027 Parent-Student Handbook (always available in the CCS Portal) and review the uniform guidelines as you begin shopping for next school year.
Uniform Reminders:
- Students grow during the summer, so prepare for next school year by purchasing properly fitting clothes (not too short, too tight, or too baggy).
- No Smart Watches (K-8); Grades 9-12 – same expectations as phone usage
- Dress Uniform Days require dress shoes; no tennis shoes
- Any “Senior/Class of…..” gear does not transfer to siblings.
NOTE: We have undertaken a logo update and are now working to phase out any old logos on classroom approved clothing. Please note that anything purchased from Flynn O’Hara will have the new logo. If you have uniform pieces with old logos, we ask that you start phasing that out of your wardrobe and do not purchase any resale items with old logos.

To kick off the summer, they will be running the first Free Shipping promotion from Monday, May 25 – Wednesday, May 27.
2025-2026 CCS Yearbook Distribution – Our CCS Yearbook now includes events from the entire 2025-2026 school year! The yearbook will be printed over the summer and will be distributed to our students in September. Orders for the yearbook are now closed. If you did not order a yearbook, you will have to wait until September to inquire if there are any extra books to sell.
- Upper School students who ordered a yearbook were given a yearbook signature insert this week to place in the back of the book. It has a sticky backing that easily adheres to the back of the yearbook. If your child did not receive their signature insert, they can pick one up at the Mrs. Stump’s desk.
- All Lower School students will receive their insert when the yearbooks are delivered in the fall. If you are moving away from CCS and ordered a yearbook, it will be mailed to you in September.
- If you are a Senior and ordered a yearbook, we will email you and offer upper school front desk pickup, or the option to have it mailed to you in September.
Health & Safety
FINAL NOTICE! – Student Medication Pick-Up – Parents who have any over-the-counter or prescription medications for their child(ren) stored at CCS, must come BEFORE the last day of school to take medication home. Notify the Health Office in advance to schedule a time for pickup (919-303-2560, ext. 262 or 212) or email Mrs. Amber Boger. NO medication of any type will be stored at CCS over the summer.
Lower School (K-5)
Important Dates
TOMORROW! – Friday, May 22 – Grades 1-5 End-of-Year Assemblies and Last Day of School – Dress Uniform Required – We hope parents will join us for a time to celebrate the year and honor the accomplishments of our students. Following their assembly, students are released for the summer!
- Grades 1-2 Assembly: 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Gym
- Grades 3-5 Assembly: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Gym
Wednesday, May 27 – Quarter 4 Report Cards – These can be found on the CCS Parent Portal after 3:30 p.m. A copy of Lower School report cards will also be sent home.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Summer Reading – Join us this summer as we travel together through the pages of great books! The books have been sent home with the students to be read over the summer individually or as a family. There will not be a graded assessment upon return in the fall, but make sure you complete the reading, so that you’ll be able to participate in the related book activities and discussions that will kick off our fall semester.

Important Dates
Thursday, May 28 – All Year Dean’s List and Dean’s List with Distinction – These will be announced in the year-end Knightly News.
By Friday, June 5 or after Monday, July 22 – NC Driver Eligibility Certificates – Students planning to get a NC Learner’s Permit over the summer are required to present a Driver Eligibility certificate completed by your school to DMV. Request your certificate by email to Mrs. Jackie Stump or in person at the Upper School Reception desk. Pick up certificates before June 5 or after July 22.

Summer Reading – Click here to access the Upper School Summer Reading Program. We are excited to provide more opportunities for students to engage with great books! Your child should have received their summer reading book this week. When we return in the fall, students will participate in class discussions based on their grade-level novel.

8th Grade and Rhetoric School Retreats – Information will be emailed in July to those who have registered. For those who have not registered, a reminder that there will be no school on the retreat days.
College Counseling
Important Dates
Monday-Friday, July 20-24 – College Essay Bootcamp – Plenty of spots are available! The College Essay Bootcamp will serve the class of 2027 through workshopping Common App essays before they begin their senior year coursework. By the end of the week, students will learn in-depth strategies for writing college essays, students will have personal time to work with Mrs. Clarkson and alumni, and students will leave with a finished essay ready to submit. Saturday, August 15 – College Essay Workshop – Mrs. Clarkson is offering a one-day (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) workshop for seniors who were unable to attend our College Essay Bootcamp over the summer. While offered in a truncated format, students will receive excellent guidance on the Common App Essay (Personal Statement) and short answer essays. Students will leave with tools to complete compelling college application essays. Registration is on the CCS Parent Portal.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
AP Scores – Students must go onto their College Board account to see their scores which will be available in early July. Students (especially seniors) who want their AP Exam Scores sent free to colleges may request a free send by June 20. Scores requested after June 20th have a fee attached.
