Thursday, April 30 – Deadline to Order 2025-26 CCS Yearbook – Don’t miss ordering this special keepsake! Purchase online by April 30. Unlike past years, this yearbook will capture the full story of our school year’s traditions and events from August to May. The Class of 2026 will have the option of pickup or mail delivery this fall. 

Saturday, May 2 – Spirit Night at Chipotle – Order online for pickup using code ZRL4QZ3, or show the flyer posted on ParentSquare in the restaurant, so 25% of sales can be donated to CCS!

Thursday, May 7 – Senior Thesis Encore Night – You will hear four of our seniors speak on a variety of relevant and challenging biblical and cultural subjects. Each presentation will last 5-10 minutes, followed by a 10-15 minute period of dialogue as they answer questions from audience members. We are especially excited to welcome CCS alumni back to campus to take part in this event- this time, from the other side of the podium! In next week’s The Knightly News, we will announce the names of students who will be speaking and their topics.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Name Our Knight! – Heads up, Knights, we’re calling on you to help name our mascot! Each student will have a chance to submit a name in their class next week, on Tuesday, April 28, so start brainstorming. A community-wide vote will then take place the week of May 11-15. (Parents – Check out “Polls” in ParentSquare for your opportunity to vote as well.) It’s a great time to be a Knight!

TOMORROW! – Friday, April 24 – Grandparents Day – Welcome, grandparents and special guests, to a special day in your honor! Following the programs, we encourage you to spend the day with your grandchildren as a special treat. There will be no lunch program or After-School Care available on this day.

    • When: 9:00 a.m. – Grades K-2, 11:00 a.m. – Grades 3-5

Due By Tuesday, April 28 – 2026-2027 Electives – Grade 5 (Rising Grade 6) Students – Current fifth-grade students (rising sixth grade) can submit elective requests for sixth grade on the Parent Portal through Tuesday, April 28. If you have questions regarding electives, contact Mr. Seitz or Mrs. Stewart.

Wednesday, April 29 – Grade 4 – Field Trip to the NC Symphony – Each year, the North Carolina Symphony invites fourth graders to a special concert designed just for this age group. They do an excellent job of exposing students to classical music, pointing out the different instruments of the orchestra, and focusing on elements of music that the students are able to identify.

Friday, May 1 – Grade 4 – Reformation CelebrationSola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, Sola Scriptura, Soli Deo Gloria! Salvation is found by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, for the glory of God alone! Fourth graders will spend the day celebrating the Protestant Reformation. They will eat a special “Diet of Worms” snack, analyze and sing Martin Luther’s famous hymn, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” learn to write 5 Solas in calligraphy, map the European countries involved in the Reformation, burn the bull, and more!

Friday, May 1 – Kindergarten Mothers’ Day Tea – This is a special time just for Moms and their Kindergarten students. The students are looking forward to presenting a program to honor their moms. You bring the hugs. We’ll provide the tissues.

Friday, May 1 Grade 5 – Orientation for Sixth Grade – After lunch, our 5th graders will journey upstairs for an introduction to 6th grade and the Logic School Hall.

Monday, May 4 – Donuts with Dads – All Lower School dads are invited to enjoy donuts with their kindergarten through fifth-grade student(s) before school.

Wednesday, May 6 – Grades 3 – 5 – Classical Learning Test (CLT) – This standardized exam is administered to all students in Grades 3 – 5 during the school day. No at-home studying or preparations are needed. Be sure to get a good night’s rest, eat a hearty breakfast, and arrive at school on time, as the test will be administered at the start of the school day.  

Thursday, May 7 – Kindergarten Caps for Dads This program is just for Kindergarten students and their dads. Each class will present a short play, Bible memory verse, and song.

DUE TODAY! – Thursday, April 23 (4:00 p.m.) – Rhetoric School Club Leadership Applications (Grades 10-12) – To be considered as an officer for a club, fill out the application available at Mr. Howell’s desk. Applications are due to Mr. Yelverton or Mr. Howell by 4:00 p.m. on April 23. Please see Mr. Yelverton with any questions. 
    • To qualify for a leadership role:
      • You must be a member in good standing, this school year, of the club you are applying to lead next school year.
      • Current club officers must also apply.
      • Only students who submit an application by April 23 will be considered for office. 
      • NOTE: Incoming ninth graders are not eligible to lead a club, but are encouraged to get involved as club members.
DUE TODAY! – Thursday, April 23 (4:00 p.m.) – Apply to Form New Rhetoric School Clubs (Grades 10-12) – Applications to create a new school club for next year are available now. Pick up an application at Mr. Howell’s desk and submit it to Mr. Yelverton or Mr. Howell by April 23 at 4:00 p.m. No new club proposals will be considered after this date, including next August. Please see Mr. Yelverton with any questions.

DUE TODAY! – Thursday, April 23 – 2026-27 Class Representative Nominations – Current 6th-11th grade students received an email on Monday, April 13, for how to access the class representative information and nominations survey link. The link will close on April 23. 

DUE TODAY! – Thursday, April 23 – Rhetoric School Executive Leadership Team Applications for 2026-2027 – Rhetoric School students, if you have an interest in serving in a leadership role next year in House, Social, Service, Worship or Communication, request an application from Mr. Howell’s desk and fill it out, even if you were in a position this school year. The application process tells us you are interested in this upcoming school year. All applications are due April 23 by 4:00 p.m. Please see Mrs. Hillsgrove or Mr. Howell if you have any questions.

LAST SESSION! – Wednesday, April 29 – Rhetoric College Counseling Lunch and Learn! – Drop-in for this school year’s last Lunch and Learn session:  Understanding Accommodations for Outside Tests. Sessions are open for any 9th-12th grade student or parent. General college counseling questions are encouraged.

Friday, May 1 – Senior Photo – Next Friday is the group photo with everyone wearing their college or next-step T-shirt. The photo will be taken before you are released for a special snack. We can’t wait to see where God is leading you!

Due By Friday, May 1 – Senior Pennant – Seniors, have you made your pennant? If not, please get one from Mrs. Kent. Please complete it by May 1.

Monday, May 4 – Friday, May 15 – AP Exams – AP Exams are right around the corner! Students who are taking them will need to bring their own charged laptop. If you have questions about what AP Exams you are taking, see your College Board Account. Individual emails will be sent to students for each exam to see locations, times, and reminders. Attendance has already been documented, but students still need to communicate with their teachers. Please make every effort to be present and on time for your exams! Parents, do not order lunch for your child if they have a noon AP Exam.
