Last semester, the ninth graders each researched and presented a charity to the class. Each class voted on the charity they would like to donate to and then took up a collection. Block 1 raised $39 for Helping Hands. Block 2 raised $90.45 to Justice Matters. Block 3 raised $103.98 for No Kid Hungry.

Friday, January 13 –Online Re-Enrollmentfor the 2023-2024 School Year CLOSES – The re-enrollment fee is $170 per student. After Friday, the re-enrollment fee will be $590 per student.  Students not re-enrolled may lose their priority seating in the grade. Access Re-Enrollment from your  Veracross Parent Portal. To minimize issues, please complete Online Re-enrollment with a computer, complete the steps in order, and please clear your browsing history/cookies before starting. Friday, January 13 – Lower School Convocation – For the month of January, our Lower School students will be focusing on the biblical character trait of respect.  God is worthy of our respect because He created all things.  We can show respect and honor for God by acknowledging who He is and by giving Him our best.  We treat others as God wants us to, with respect.  Luke 6:31, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”  

 

Monday, January 16 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day – We will not hold school on Monday in honor of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This day is recognized as a day of service. Please take time to participate in an act of kindness towards others on Monday. 

 

Wednesday, January 18 – Prospective Family Open House – Current families, please invite your friends to our Prospective Family Open House! Registration is open on our website.   

    • When: 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.   
    • Where: CCS Campus 

 

Thursday, January 19 – Fourth Grade Community Night – Fourth Grade students and families are invited to come out and enjoy some sweet fellowship with their classmates and families! Friday, January 20 – Grammar School Spelling Bee – The top three winners from each 3rd-5th grade class will compete in our Grammar School Spelling Bee to identify a winner to represent our school at the regional level.  Participants will wear dress uniform on this day.  C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S to our spellers!

Parents in Prayer – Parents of Lower School students are invited to join bi-monthly prayer meetings that will foster community with one another as we intercede for our CCS family. There is no need to RSVP! All meetings will be held at the Pavilion.

Junior Student and Parent College Counseling Meeting – If you missed the Junior meeting yesterday, please pick up your folder from Ms. Smith and Mrs. McGinnis and review the attached PowerPoint.

 

Rhetoric College Counseling Lunch and Learn – Ms. Smith will be available for a drop-in lunch and learn session for students and parents to ask general questions. Lunch and learns are open for any 9th to 12th grade student or parent.

Junior Individual Meetings – It’s time for juniors and their parents to book their individual meetings with Ms. Smith. Please use this link to select a time. Meetings scheduled after school will be held by Zoom. Meetings scheduled during the day will have the option of being in person or virtual. In preparation for these meetings, students must complete the following:   

  1. YouScience in Scoir   
  2. Rising Senior Survey in Scoir   
  3. Parents must complete the Parent Brag Sheet   

 

Registration Open for Digital At-Home PSAT Practice Test – The CCS College Counseling Office and Compass Education Group will administer a FREE adaptive at-homePractice Digital PSAT to students in the 9th and 10th grades. The test mimics the computer-based test—question type, content, timing, duration, and adaptive structure—so students will get an early feel for what’s to come in fall 2023. Click here to Register. The deadline to register is Wednesday, January 25. Note: If a student has a conflict with the date, he or she should still register to get the link. Compass Prep will send you a detailed confirmation email on Thursday, January 26. The link to take the test will be included.

Athletics

 

Spring Sport Coaching Needs – These are stipend paid positions. If you are interested, please contact Jeff Poore, Director of Athletics, at jpoore@carychristianschool.org.

Coed Logic School Winter Futsal – Coach Brose will host futsal training for Logic School students in the gym starting February 4. There will be a total of 6 weeks on Saturdays from 7:45 – 9:00 A.M. The cost is $120. If you are interested in participating, email jpoore@carychristianschool.org.

 

Women’s Golf Fall 2023 – We are exploring the possibility of having a Women’s Varsity Golf team next Fall. If your student is interested, and in 7th grade or higher, please contact jpoore@carychristianschool.org.

 

Spring Sports – Spring sports officially start on February 13. Coaches will be sending out information about tryouts by the week of January 31. Some may offer preseason conditioning or skills training, but they will communicate directly with you based on last year’s roster or current sign-up sheet.
