Welcome back to School! We are ready.

Summer is a busy time in a school. We have waxed the floors, painted the walls, and installed LED lights. We have received boxes of new books, sorted them, and placed them in the classrooms.  We have trained new staff and new teachers and made our plans for the fall.  Except for a few final details, we are ready for August 3, and the first day of school.  I hope you are encouraged as you read through The Knightly News. This weekly newsletter offers you information on upcoming events, preparation for the first day of school, and introductions to our new faculty. Each week, you can also access this information from your Veracross Parent Portal. God is blessing our school. The Knightly News and the Veracross Parent Portal are great ways to enjoy what is happening on campus.

On August 3, our community returns. Each of you will make the turn off Old Apex Road and drive past the Oak Tree. A special place has developed over the last 26 years. The video below shares our vision for the year and focuses our prayers.

    1. Pray that God will bless our teachers as they seek to prepare their classrooms, their homes, and their hearts for the new year.
    2. Pray that God will bless our students as they come back to school ready to learn, whether they are enjoying their first 1st day of school, or, as a Senior, their last 1st day of school.
    3. Pray that God will calm the spirits of our new teachers. They are a great group of men and women.
    4. Pray that God will calm the spirits of the 98 new students who will enter our building for the first time.
    5. Pray for our High School Retreat. This is our second annual retreat, but it is quickly becoming a tradition. Our hope is that God will use the time to prepare our students spiritually for the year.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out. Send me an email at rhinton@carychristianschool.org and let’s find a time to meet.

May God prepare us all for a great year.  See you on August 3.

Robbie Hinton
Headmaster

We are so excited to have them join our team.

Jordan Glassford – Kindergarten Teacher – Mrs. Glassford was born and raised in South Carolina where she earned her B.A. and M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. She and her husband, Jimmy, have been in the Raleigh area for 3 years and have two children, a rising Kindergartner and a three-year-old. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading a good book, cooking, and thrifting.

Bonnie Harris – Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant & Interior Design Elective Teacher – I grew up in the Carolinas and Virginia. I attended elementary and middle school in Raleigh, then my family moved to Virginia, where I went to high school. I returned to Raleigh and got my undergraduate degree from Meredith College in Interior Design and then a Master’s degree in Special Education. I have two sweet girls that will be in kindergarten and second grade at Cary Christian this year. For fun I enjoy traveling to new places, hiking, camping and gardening. Two fun facts about me are, I was on the synchronized swim team at Meredith College and we have four pet chickens, Sassy, Kiwi, Grace, and Taco.

Jackie Stump – 2nd Grade Teacher Assistant – Mrs. Stump worked in Finance for sixteen years with Siemens before becoming a mom. For the past ten years she’s been a homeschool and co-op teacher. She and her husband Don have one son, a sophomore in high school. Her favorite things are Cape Cod beach vacations,  lobster rolls, her dog Buddy, and going to Carolina Hurricanes hockey games with her family.

Jessica Downing – Third Grade Teacher – Mrs. Downing is a native North Carolinian. She attended NC State for her undergraduate studies and Meredith College where she earned a Masters in Teaching. Mrs. Downing has been married to her husband for 10 years and they have four children, 3 who attend CCS. Her favorite things to do include traveling with her family, running, reading, baking, and playing with her kids.

Holly Doden – 5th Grade Teacher – Mrs. Doden hails from California where she earned a B.A. and M.A. in Education from Biola University. She met her husband in line for Space Mountain at Disneyland, and you could say life has been a wild ride ever since. With three kids and a dog, her home is filled with laughter, great books, loud music, lots of plants, and tacos every Tuesday. Whether in the mountains, at the beach, around the table with good friends, or lost in a story with a cup of tea, she’s always up for an adventure!

Marcie Blanchard – Visual Arts Teacher (3rd – 12th Grade) – Mrs. Blanchard hails from the great state of Michigan, where she attended Grand Valley State University to earn a B.S. in Visual Art Education with an emphasis in jewelry and metalsmithing.  She has been married to her to husband Brantley for 13 years.  Together they have 3 children in grades second, third, and fifth.  In her spare time, she enjoys the beach, reading or listening to audio books, sewing, hanging out with her family and their dog Mozzie.

Dwight Dillon-Seminario – Band Director (3rd – 12th Grade) – Mr. Dillon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies, with a specialty in trombone from San Diego State University. His professional experience includes playing in the show band for Carnival, and Princess Cruises Lines. He was also a trombone professor at the Conservatory of Music, in Lima, Peru, and was a freelance trombonist in the country, which included theatre productions, and giving university masterclasses. Although Spanish is his first language, don’t ask him to write in it. Currently, he’s been married to his ride or die, Kander McInnis for 3 years. They have no kids, but a dog is in their near future. They also run a business together, with a team of 20 people in 6 states and growing. He has an A-type, assertive, entrepreneurial personality. When he’s not focused on his goals, he looks forward to date night, obsessed with optimizing his health, works out almost daily, loves reading books on leadership/ personal development, and loves espresso.

Howard Hanson – 9th Grade Science Teacher – Mr. Hanson met his wife while they were college students (at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo). As a science student he was amazed at the unfathomable majesty of God as seen in His creation — and became a teacher to fan the spark of wonder in others. Their daughter followed in his footsteps in becoming a Special Ed. teacher. Life together with his wife has been a wonderful journey, but they increasingly sensed God calling them out of their native California. After much praying and seeking they chose to travel the path blazed by Mrs. Lasch and her husband (their former neighbors in Long Beach) to North Carolina. They are loving the adventures each day brings!
