2023-03-30 Bird Projects

Third Graders were so excited to see their Bird Projects on display in the Lobby for all to see! Former Third Graders were also having fun trying to remember the names of each of the species. Thank you to Mrs. Blanchard for showcasing the hard work of our Third Graders!

Career Connections was such a success, and our students cherished hearing about many different occupations from our wonderful presenters. Thank you to those who were willing to come and share with our Rhetoric Students!

Chamber Choir had a great tour in Florida over Spring Break, as well as a wonderful “Homecoming” Performance at CCS this past Sunday! Congratulations to all of the performers!

Our Seniors began to hang their College Pennants outside Ms. Smith’s office upstairs. It is a celebration each time a new pennant goes up! Please join in congratulating and praying for our Seniors as they make their decisions for next year!

Thursday, March 30 & Friday, March 31 – Fifth Grade Country Days – Fifth Grade students have been studying a foreign country of their choice and will be presenting their reports in front of the class. We research how many Bibles have yet to be translated into their languages and how to pray for the work of the gospel in each of these countries. As part of our celebration, the students have the option to bring in a dish from their country, and we enjoy an international feast. We are thankful we serve a God of every tongue and tribe! Please pray with us that we will be a people with a heart for the nations. 

 

Wednesday, April 5 – Lower School Teacher Appreciation Day – Send in a note or flowers to show appreciation for our Lower School Staff and Faculty! Flowers and cards will be collected at morning carpool and arranged in bouquets to be shared among all the teachers, teacher assistants, and specials teachers. 

  

Thursday, April 6 – Fifth Grade Assembly – Parents and friends are invited for a presentation of the beauty of Fifth Grade and a special celebration of this final Lower School assembly opportunity for the students. Please join us for a reception afterwards on the Fifth Grade playground. There will be an early release for Fifth Graders following the reception.

Thursday, April 13 – Fourth Grade Renaissance Day – Our Fourth Graders have enjoyed studying the Renaissance in history. They made beautiful art imitations earlier last quarter and now they get to celebrate with a feast, dancing, and games!

 

 

Thursday, April 13 – Senior Thesis Presentations Begin – Senior Thesis Presentations will begin on April 13 and will continue until April 27. We invite all CCS families to come support and celebrate our Seniors students in this academic achievement. Stay tuned for a full schedule of topics.

Grandparents’ Day Save the Date! Lower School is looking forward to welcoming grandparents and special guests to our campus on Friday, April 28, to share what we’ve been learning this year. More details to come mid-April. 

 

Parents in Prayer – Parents of Lower School students are invited to join prayer meetings throughout the Fourth Quarter that will foster community with one another as we intercede for our CCS family. There is no need to RSVP! See dates below.  

    • When: April 21, May 5, and May 19, from 8:15 – 8:45 A.M.

Lost & Found TOMORROW – Each month, the lost and found items are set out under the K-2 Recess Canopy/3-5 Carpool Canopy. Families may come and look for lost items between 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. Any items left will be donated or discarded. Please note: each week items campus-wide are consolidated in the K-2 stairwell. If you cannot find your items in the hallway or gym bins, please check the K-2 stairwell throughout the month. If you have any questions, please contact Ellen Wentz at ewentz@carychristianschool.org. 

 

April Board Meeting Time Change – The April 18 Board Meeting will now be from 5:00 – 6:00 P.M. due to Board Visitation Day. We hope you will join us!

 

Biblical Character – For the month of March, our Lower School students will be focusing on the Biblical character trait of forgiveness. “We forgive others just as in Christ, God forgave us.” (Ephesians 4:32). We are also learning what it means to “let love cover it.” (1 Peter 4:8).

Friday, March 31 – Senior Lunch Meeting – Seniors will meet during lunch in the Gym. Students, remember to bring your packed lunch and your laptop.  

 

Tuesday, April 4 – Eighth Grade Tea Signups Close – Eighth Grade Tea signups are open and will close on Tuesday, April 4. Click here to register. This year’s Eighth Grade Tea will be held on Saturday, April 15, from 3:00 – 4:30 P.M. It is a wonderful opportunity for our young ladies and gentlemen to prepare for the social events they will enjoy in Rhetoric School. We are still looking for parent volunteers in both the 8th and 7th grades to assist with volunteer roles the day of the event. If you would like to volunteer at the Eighth Grade Tea, please email Ellen Wentz at ewentz@carychristianschool.org.  A separate signup genius will be sent out for those wishing to prepare food or loan serving pieces. Tuesday, April 4 – Protocol Signups Open – Protocol is a long-standing tradition for Rhetoric School Juniors and Seniors. The event this year will be held on Saturday, April 22, at 7:00 P.M. Signups will open on Tuesday, April 4, and will close on Tuesday, April 11. Parents, you will register your student through your Veracross Parent Portal.  As you register, you agree to the behavior and attire expectations. Wednesday, April 5 – Upper School Teacher Appreciation Day – We LOVE our teachers! In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day, we want to fill our Upper School teachers’ mailboxes with THANK YOU NOTES and LETTERS OF GRATITUDE for all they do for us!  Students are encouraged to either bring notes or stop by the Commons Area Teacher Appreciation Table where we’ll have plenty of blank cards to write a quick note and place in the Drop Box! We’ll take care of the delivery!

High Point University Junior Scholar – Students, are you interested in being nominated as one of five CCS students to be a High Point University Junior Scholar?  If so, please complete the attached request for nomination and return to Ms. Smith by Monday, April 3, 2023. 

 

Study for AP Exams – Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, please remember to study for the upcoming AP Exams for which you are registered. We will announce locations in mid-April.
