Coats for the Cold – SSP Donations for Newport, Tennessee – Our Seniors are excited for their Senior Service Practicum and the ability to bless our brothers and sisters in Newport, Tennessee. Remember to bring in your gently used or new winter clothing. Donation collections happen each Friday between now and Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 11 – Movie Night – Come join us for a family Movie Night. We will watch Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Enjoy complimentary popcorn and hot beverages! Bring your family picnic and a blanket or two to enjoy a fun movie, dine-in experience! Pray for good weather! If you are able to help, please click here to see where we still need volunteers!

Artsonia – Cary Christian School is partnering with Artsonia, the world’s largest collection of student art, to provide our families with individualized galleries of student work to be viewed and appreciated, along with the opportunity to purchase high-quality custom keepsakes featuring student artwork.  Look for more information in next week’s Monday folders or click here for more details.

 

November Biblical Character Convocation – For the month of November, we will be focusing on gratitude.  We honor God by being grateful for who He is and how He has loved and provided for us. Give thanks always, for all things.  Ephesians 5:20

 

“Supply the Pie” – A special way our community shows our love, gratitude, and appreciation for our staff and faculty is by providing them with a pie for their Thanksgiving holiday! We need all 106 pie slots accounted for! As an extra way to love on our staff this year, we have given you the opportunity to further donate to our teacher appreciation fund which will help raise additional funds for our Christmas festivities this year and next! This year you have two options:

 

Community Nights! – We are excited to announce to you that we will be having Community Nights for our Lower School families by grade level! These special nights are set aside to foster opportunities for our CCS families to connect and fellowship! For each grade, there will be two Community Nights this school year! Your student will receive a special flyer in their Monday folder with a unique code for our school. You may take a picture of the flyer or simply bring it with you to show the restaurant when you order. To kick things off, here are the dates for each grade’s Community Nights!

College Counseling

 

Monday, November 7 – Deadline to Apply for the Governor’s School – Juniors, are you interested in the NC Governor’s School?You have a few more days to apply for a CCS nomination for the Governor’s School of NorthCarolina. Turn in your application to Ms. Smith no later than November 7, by 8:00 A.M. Please note, you do not need teacher letters of recommendation at this point.  Sophomores, if this intrigues you, there are limited opportunities for dance, choral music, and instrumental music for Sophomores.   • 9th Grade: Plato’s “Meno” – Are there things worth dying for? If so, what are they?
  • 10th Grade: Boethius’ Consolations of Philosophy What can guarantee happiness?
  • 11th Grade: Student-Crafted Dialogue on Religious Epistemology – A Roman Catholic, a Protestant, a Quaker, and a Skeptic meet up for coffee at the Philosophy Café. In their ensuing conversation they discuss a wide range of topics, finding many points of both agreement and disagreement.
  • 12th Grade: Federalist 47, Federalist 51, Patrick Henry’s, “Speech Before the Virginia Ratifying Convention” – To what in human nature do checks and balances appeal, and what do they channel?
