TODAY! – Thursday, October 23 – Yearbook Ads Are Due – Don’t miss the deadline to purchase a yearbook ad to advertise your business to the entire CCS community! Funds go to support Community Development within our school.  Contact: Ellen Wentz.

TOMORROW! – Friday, October 24 – CCS Annual Christmas Card Art Contest – Submissions Due – Participating K-12 students need to submit fully colored 5×7 sized designs focused on the theme: “Peace on Earth.” The winner’s art will be featured on this year’s school Christmas card, and he or she will also receive $25 to the Spirit Store.   • Where: Prestonwood Country Club
  • When: 8:30 a.m. – Check-in begins; 10:00 a.m. – Shotgun start
Tuesday, October 28 — Class Group & Individual Re-Take Picture Day – Lifetouch will be on campus to photograph Homeroom classes (Lower School) and Grade Level groups (Upper School). Logic and Rhetoric Band and Chorus classes will be photographed during class.

Thursday, November 6 – Prospective Family Open House (5:00-7:00 p.m.) – Invite your friends and family to experience the heart of CCS! Help spread the word about classical Christian education by encouraging prospective families to attend Open House. Guests will have the opportunity to meet our dedicated faculty and staff, explore our classrooms, and walk through our vibrant hallways.

    • Feeling competitive? The family who refers the most guests will win a sweet reward—ice cream for your whole family!

Lower School Teacher Assistant Position Available – Seeking a parent to serve in the role of Part-Time Teacher Assistant working in one of our K-2 classrooms, supporting the teacher by loving our students and pointing them to Christ. This position will be from 7:40 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, following the school calendar with weeks off at the same time as the students.  Contact Kelly Gardner, Lower School Dean, for more information or to express your interest.

NOW ACCEPTING! – Collections for Senior Service Practicum (SSP) –
  • ANY cold weather items (blankets, coats, hats, gloves/mittens of all sizes, new socks), and new or gently used backpacks (These items should be gently used and freshly laundered then bagged.)
  • Walmart gift cards are also greatly appreciated for purchases being made for those we serve.
  • Deliver to these collection zones:
    • Grades K-5: Mr. Shane Tharrington’s security desk
    • Grades 6-12: Mrs. Diane Hillsgrove’s office

SAVE THE DATE! – Friday, November 21 – Operation Christmas Child – Upper and Lower School students will partner together to pack shoeboxes for the ministry of Operation Christmas Child. We are asking every student for a $20 monetary donation and a small gift item.

Important Dates

Wednesday, November 5 – Grade 4 Assembly – This is a special time for our fourth graders to take the stage and share what they have been learning. Parents are invited to join us for a reception after the assembly. You will enjoy seeing the students’ medieval costumes and learning some Latin derivatives. Early dismissal for fourth graders will occur after the reception.

Wednesday, October 29 – Grade 8 Pilgrim’s Progress Art Show in Conjunction with Grade 6 The Book Behind the Book Exhibit – Come and enjoy two art shows! Walk through The Pilgrim’s Progress Art Show and see how the eighth grade “turns up the metaphors” from Bunyan’s famous allegory with creative and artistic renderings of Christian’s journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. Then, discover “The Book” that inspired Bunyan’s allegories by viewing beautiful, artistic canvases by sixth graders for each of the 66 books of the Bible and follow the scarlet thread that runs throughout God’s Word.

College Counseling

Important Dates

Last Week! – Lunch Time College Visits – Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors – Come engage with college reps and learn about the educational opportunities on their campuses. Students sign up via Scoir. Parents are welcome to attend.

Saturday, November 1 – Deadline for AP Exam-Only Registration for Grades 10 – 12 – There are 2 steps to registering:

  • Students must register here for AP Exams Only on their College Board.
  • Students or parents must pay the $115 fee through the Parent Portal.
  • NOTE: Students who are in AP Classes at CCS (AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Physics) are already registered and have paid for the corresponding AP Exam. No further action is needed from these students.
  • QUESTIONS – Refer to the AP Dual Enrollment PowerPoint on the College Counseling Dashboard on the CCS Portals.

Saturday, November 1 – Deadline for Dual Enrollment Registration for Students in Grades 11 – 12 – Students need to register and pay on the Colorado Christian University Site. The list of courses can be found here and outside of Ms. Smith’s office. Save the confirmation email in the student’s Scoir account under “My Drive.” You will need this information when ordering a transcript. If you have questions, see Mrs. Kent.

Thursday, November 6 – NC Governor’s School Nominee Application Due – Juniors and Sophomores – Click here for information. If you are interested and available to attend NC Governor’s School, you must complete your application to be a CCS nominee and turn it into Mrs. Kent.
