Greetings from Cary Christian School’s College Counseling Department. It has been my privilege to serve as the Director of College Counseling at CCS since 2018 and develop a strong college counseling program. Along with my certificate in College Admissions Counseling from the University of California Riverside, I hold an undergraduate degree from Dickinson College and an MBA from Hood College. I am active in NACCAP (the North American Coalition for College Admissions Professionals) and a member of NACAC (the National Association of College Admission Counseling.)
Together with Teshia McGinnis, my assistant, we work to help to open doors of opportunity for students to go to where God has called them. On average, 94% of our graduates matriculate to a four-year college and six percent to a community college, gap year program, or directly into the work force.
Throughout high school, we provide grade appropriate college counseling advice and activities. These include grade-wide parent and student meetings, individual meetings, Lunch and Learns, visits from college representatives, a college fair, college admission panel, career connections to allow students to hear about career opportunities from parents and alumni, and more.
As a school, we use Scoir to help students navigate the career exploration and college admissions process. We communicate regularly with students and parents to guide them through the process. Parents and students, we encourage you to read the College Counseling Component Pages in Veracross for grade appropriate college counseling information.
