Kindergarten Art Projects

Each kindergarten class created their own art project titled “Friendship.”

At Cary Christian School we share friendship. Friends are such a big part of going to school. Our school friends share the ups and downs of growing up. Parents also create lasting friendships at CCS. It is a wonderful experience to be part of the Cary Christian School community.

The kindergarten “Friendship” projects are lovingly created using the mixed media of watercolor and conté crayon. Each individual flower was carefully placed in a “vase” to create a beautiful arrangement. The flowers represent how our friendships grow together at Cary Christian School.

First Grade Art Projects

Each first grade class created their own art project titled “Books.”

At Cary Christian School we share the love of classic literature. From the magical innocence of Charlotte’s Web to the epic tale of Henry V, great writers and stories foster great readers and thinkers.

In the “Books” projects, each 1st grade student carefully designed a colorful pattern on his or her butterfly using the pointillism technique. The butterflies were placed escaping the open book to symbolize the stories that spark our imagination when we read a great book.

Second Grade Art Project

All three second grade classes created a unique collaborative art project titled: “Love,” inspired by Psalm 118:1, “His love endures forever.”  

At Cary Christian School it is a blessing to share our faith in the love of Jesus Christ. When students come to school they do not have to leave their faith at home. The gospel is part of the everyday language that is spoken from the classroom to the athletic fields.

In the “Love” project, a colorful rainbow of salt painted hands shaped into a heart holds within the promise that God’s love endures forever. Each second grade student traced his or her hand, painted it with watercolor, and then sprinkled coarse salt. The salt disperses the color to create an interesting textural surface.

Third Grade Art Project

All three third grade classes created a unique collaborative art project titled: “Houses,” inspired by Joshua 24:15, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

At Cary Christian School we share our desire to raise our children in homes that love and follow God. When our children go to school every day we are confident that they are being loved and nurtured toward that end.

The Houses project is a monumental endeavor both in scale and creativity for our 3rd graders. Each student created his or her own house using paper collage technique. The blue sky background creates the perfect backdrop to our community of houses.

Fourth Grade Art Project

 

All three fourth grade classes created a unique collaborative art project titled: “Sunshine,” inspired by Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”

Every morning is a new day and a new opportunity to serve the Lord. At Cary Christian School we share a hope and joy that is evident in the students, faculty and parents. There is always someone with a smile and a word of encouragement!

In the “Sunshine” project, each 4th grade student was asked to design a sun with assorted paper. Each unique paper collage square is joined together producing a multi-dimensional and colorful quilt-like effect.

Fifth Grade Art Project

 

All three fifth grade classes worked together to recreate a piece by Japanese illustrator Ryo Takemasa titled: “Rice Fields.”

Using a mixed medium approach, the students worked together to create a rice field scene using vibrant colors and textures. Take the time to look up his work and see his use of color and pattern—it is amazing!

Middle School Art Project

 

All middle school art elective classes worked together to create their own art project titled: “The Love Story We Share.”

Inspired by their relationship with Jesus, the Middle School art elective students created this special work of art. The students designed this pen and ink art piece to collectively tell their story of love, hope, and faith in Jesus through their education and activities at Cary Christian School.

High School Art Project

 

All high school art elective classes worked together to create their own art project titled: “Insectfest.”

The high school students used acrylic paint bottles to create abstract insects in a cohesive color palette. Each student used a template to design their own insect and embellished it with details to draw in the eye. Stand back and see how the colors work together!
