Let Us Pray for Teachers, Administrators, & Staff

Dear God, we pray for our teachers, school administrators, and staff as they prepare for the new school year. Thank you for the men and women who have dedicated their careers to teaching and leading. May they all have energy, creativity, and compassion. Protect their mental and physical health as they work hard to create safe places of learning. We pray that the classrooms and school buildings can be a place where love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control flourish. Amen.

Welcoming New Staff and Faculty – Click here to meet the new members of our team.

Communication Channels – Communication is the key to a strong partnership at CCS. We have three main channels of communication. Behind each technology, there is administration, faculty, and staff that are available and eager to communicate with you.

  • Veracross Portal – K-12 Parents and 6-12 Students can readily access our main hub of information for their household and the whole school.
    • Click here to access your portal. Each parent has a login. Students (Grades 6-12) can only use their CCS email to login.
    • Each user can subscribe to school calendars. Click on the Calendar icon then “Subscribe” to choose the calendars of interest and how to connect them to your own calendar.
    • Directories of employees and enrolled families are found in the portal.
    • This year, we are launching “Department Pages” located on the homepage/dashboard of the portal. This is where you can find more detailed information in one location for the whole school year.
    • Magnus Health – Amber writing some copy for this.
  • The Knightly NewsThis is our e-newsletter that provides a 2-week bulletin of upcoming events and information throughout the school year. New for this year is a quick link (see below) to past issues when needed.
  • ParentSquare/StudentSquare – K-12 Parents and 6-12 Students have access to our in-house social media platform and communication tool for athletics and other areas of the school. To learn more about this, or get logged in for the first time, click here then on the ParentSquare icon.  Room Parents will use this for classroom and grade-level communication.

Note: All three of these are linked at the bottom of each issue of The Knightly News.

Medicine Disbursement Policy* – CCS follows NC laws with the disbursement of both over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications. Furthermore, these policies differ between Lower School and Upper School. Review these policies:

  • Lower School students (Grades K-5) are NOT permitted to have over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription medications on them at school unless medically necessary and with approved documentation. This includes cough drops. If a Lower School student requires medication (OTC or prescribed) during school hours, it must be brought to the Health Office in its original packaging with instructions for administration.
  • Upper School students (Grades 6-12) may carry a single daily dose of an over-the-counter medication (OTC) if the medication is properly labeled and in its original container.
    • They may NOT self-carry any prescription medications without completion of the proper forms and approved documentation from the Health Office. These forms are available through the Magnus Health Portal. They must be completed and signed by a parent, then reviewed by a CCS Health Office staff member prior to a medication being sent to school.

* No loose medications are permitted regardless of type per the CCS Health & Safety policy.

*If unidentified or unauthorized medications are found, they will be collected and discarded.

*It is also against school policy for a student to distribute medications to a classmate or other student.

*Refer to Medication Disbursement Policy in Parent-Student Handbook.

For further questions contact Amber Boger.

Medication Drop-Off – Parents or Guardians may drop off all medications required for administration at school (including EpiPens, inhalers, etc.) with Mrs. Blondin, at the front desk downstairs, or to Mrs. Boger or Mrs. Edwards in the Health Office from July 31-August 7, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Note: No prescription medications will be administered without proper labeling, instruction, and parental consent.

ANNOUNCEMENTS –

Student Parking Permits & Off-Campus Lunch Juniors and Seniors, information about student parking permits and off-campus lunch parent permissions for 11th and 12th graders will be announced in The Knightly News on July 25. Look for the links to these forms coming soon to the Parent Portal. If there are still spaces available, we will accommodate current Sophomore drivers (beginning in September). Note: During construction this fall, student drivers may not be able to park on campus for a period of time.

Student Parking – Student Parking priority is given to Seniors and Juniors. If space allows, parking permits for Sophomores will be considered. In order for a student to park on campus, they must have an approved application on file.

  • Seniors & Juniors: If you are interested in a parking permit for this school year, you must have a current driver’s license or anticipate getting one before the end of the school year. Fill out this form by Friday, August 2, to guarantee your parking space.
  • Sophomores: Due to limited parking, permits for 10th graders are dependent on space availability. Preference is given to 11th and 12th graders. If you are a current 10th grader interested in a parking permit, any time during this school year, fill out this form. We will assess parking during August and then determine in September if spaces are available for sophomores.

Respect, Responsibility, Thoughtfulness, and Our Keys to Success – We truly believe that every student is mysteriously and wonderfully made and while they are prone to err, they are capable of glory.

    • Hope for our Students: Grow in their faith and understanding of Christ and his love for them.
    • Hope for Cary Christian School: Strengthen our school culture by focusing on the habits of respect, responsibility, and thoughtfulness.
    • Hope for our Community: To function well, we all (students, parents and staff) need to commit to interacting with each other in this way. We have all agreed to certain standards and it is up to all of us to help our students see the beauty and benefit of these standards.

As we prepare ourselves to live in community together as well as prepare our students for their life after Cary Christian School, we will continue to focus on our ten Keys to Success.
