Friday, February 4 – Kindergarten Field Trip to the Dentist – The Kindergarten classes are looking forward to their field trip to the Smiling Turtle Pediatric Dentist.  As part of our study of community helpers, Dr. Banakus will show the Kindergarteners the importance of her job as a dentist and how to help keep teeth strong and healthy. The students have enjoyed learning about our community and the many ways that people work to help others.

 

Friday, February 4 – Worship Night – Come out and enjoy a time of worship led by our Rhetoric School Worship Team. The theme this quarter is “The Holy Spirit,” and our guest speaker is CCS parent, Otniel Hernandez.

Tuesday, February 8 – Firm Foundation Firm Foundation is for CCS parents who want to dig deeper into the world of classical, Christian education. Parents are encouraged to come to our monthly meeting, where we will hear CCS guest speakers, read and discuss several books related to our mission (e.g., Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning, Repairing the Ruins, etc.), and help build community among fellow parents. Click here to learn more! This week Mr. Hinton will be leading the discussion.

Registration Open for the 2nd Annual Crucible Challenge – This epic event will be held on Friday, April 1 (check-in 4:30 P.M. at the Pavilion). In tandem with this event, we will host our 1st Annual Iron Knight 5K (check-in 3:30 P.M. at Bond Park)! Click here to register. Registration closes March 20. 

 

CCS Approved Spirit Wear – In order to unify our community under our brand, students may not wear spirit wear in class that is not sold from our CCS Spirit Store. There are several websites that sell “off-brand” spirit wear that does not fit under our brand. Click here to access all CCS approved spirit wear.

Luther House With Love from Jesus Sign-Up – Rhetoric school Luther House students and staff have the opportunity to meet the needs of the community by serving at With Love from Jesus Ministries where we will unload and distribute food and clothing. The service project will be from 9:00 A.M. – 12:45 P.M. on February 26 at their site in Raleigh. We are only able to take a limited number of participants, so a link has been sent out to the Luther House students from the Luther House Executive team to sign up. Parents, if you would like to sign your student up, click here.

College Counseling

 

Saturday, February 26 – Practice ACT Test – CCS is offering a practice ACT Test through Compass Test Prep. The test will be held at Cary Christian on Saturday, February 26 from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. This is open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Parents, you will receive a score report within 2 weeks. The deadline to register is TOMORROW, February 4.

To register, complete these two steps:

  1. Register and pay the $10 fee through your Veracross Parent Portal or with this link.  
  2. Click here to sign up for the ACT Practice Test through the Compass Test Prep website.

 

Thursday, February 10 – Friday, February 25 – AP Exam-Only Late Registration Period – Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, the cost of late registration for an AP Exam is $165 per AP Exam which includes the College Board Late Fee ($40) and the CCS Late Fee ($25).  There are two steps to complete:

  1. Pay by clicking here.
  2. Register for the AP Exam on CollegeBoard.com. (Click here for the AP Joining Codes.)

 

Wednesday, February 16 – College Admissions Panel with:  

    • The University of Alabama, an out-of-state public university
    • Grove City, a Christian college
    • High Point University, a private university
    • North Carolina State University, an in-state public university

These representatives will share admission and other school specific information with you. This panel is designed for all Rhetoric school students and parents but is open to the entire community. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain knowledge on what makes each unique, financial aid, and the admissions process.

Athletics

 

Monday, February 7 – Friday, February 11 – Logic School Pre-Season Conditioning – Students who intend to participate in a spring sport are invited to join Coach Kinney and Coach Cathey for a one-week activity acclimation period.  Dress warmly in athletic attire and bring a filled water bottle. 

    • When: 2:40 – 3:40 P.M.

Spring Forms – All athletes must have completed forms on file in Magnus. If you have already completed these forms for the 2021-2022 school year, there is no need to submit again. You can find these forms in Magnus through your Parent Portal.
