Knights Athletics

At Cary Christian School, we believe that athletics are an ideal complement to academics in the overall educational experience of our students. The playing field, the pool, and the court provide excellent places for the development of self-discipline, a strong work ethic, and commitment. We seek to encourage the positive benefits of teamwork and sportsmanship as students test their skills against the opponent and one another. Our athletic program currently includes thirty-nine competitive sport teams and spirit squads.

We also believe that participation in extracurricular activities, especially athletics, provides a good opportunity to encourage Christian students in their relationships with Jesus Christ. These activities also enhance the atmosphere of the Cary Christian School student body, providing students and parents with an opportunity to express positive school spirit.

Athletic Program Objectives

Varsity (grades 9-12): The objective of the varsity level is to exhibit impeccable sportsmanship and excellence. Varsity athletics is highly competitive and advanced. At this level, the athlete will be scrutinized more thoroughly in his character, ability, attitudes, and skills. He will play before many witnesses, including the Lord. The most qualified athletes will be allowed on the varsity team. Playing time will be at the discretion of the coach. In some sports, seventh and eighth grade students are eligible to participate on a varsity team.

Middle School (grades 6-8): The objectives of the middle-school program are improvement through participation and the development of basic skills. Coaches will also teach basic rules and principles of the game. Middle-school athletics will allow each student the opportunity to participate and grow in sportsmanship and Christian character. Each athlete will be allowed to participate in every game contingent on their attitude and participation in practice. Coaches will talk with players and parents to explain reasons for non-participation in a game.
