Cary Christian School established its first endowment in November 2024.

A donation to the Knight’s Endowment Fund establishes a generational covenant protecting the Teacher-Student Relationship. The endowment reinforces the stability of the school, the commitment to competitive teacher compensation, and the discipline to keep tuition affordable.

Jason Allbert
Jason Allbert grew up in Cary and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master of Accounting. He later earned a Masters in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University.
He started his career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen LLP. He spent five years in finance with Bank of America. Currently, he serves as CEO of Precision Franchising, Inc. which is a family-owned business that has operated Precision Tune Auto Care centers in North Carolina since 1979.
Jason and his wife Elizabeth have been a part of the CCS community since 2011. They have two sons — Knox is a CCS graduate and is attending Wheaton College, and Chase is a sophomore at CCS.
Dr. Todd Bovenizer
Dr. Todd Bovenizer grew up in rural Virginia in a family of pharmacists. While working in his father’s independent family drugstore, he developed a tireless work ethic and a passion for treating customers like family as well as running a family business. This mentality has carried over to his professional career, and has been the cornerstone of Bovenizer & Baker Orthodontics since its opening in 2006.
In addition to running an orthodontic practice, he is also sought after as an international speaker on the Damon system for orthodontics. His office is also a visiting site for numerous clinicians to learn more about their field.
He has experience on several boards, including Cary Christian, First Citizens Bank, FFL private equity, and Triangle Christian Medical and Dental Association.
Hunter Muse
Hunter Muse has been a financial planner since 2002. He and his team have an office in Raleigh where they serve clients, manage investments and plan for their futures. He has received a variety of awards over his career including Ameriprise Circle of Success, Ameriprise Client Service Award, top wealth advisor according to the Triangle Business Journal, and was most recently named a top wealth advisor in North Carolina by Forbes. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and an Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor (APMA). He has a master’s in Economics from NC State and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Texas A&M – Commerce. Hunter loves spending time with his wife, Robin, and their two daughters. He and his family are active members at Treasuring Christ Church in Raleigh.
Quinlan Miller
Quinlan Miller joined TE in October 2022 as the CS Segment CFO. Prior to joining TE, she served as President and GM for Tipper Tie and Schroder business units and Foodtech Segment CFO at JBT Corporation. Before that, she worked at Corning Incorporated from 2001 to 2013 in various financial positions of increasing responsibility. She also held auditor roles at Ernst & Young and Burlington Resources oil & gas. She holds a BS in accounting from Southern Methodist University. Quinlan has a proven record of developing strong teams and implementing financial processes that help drive growth, cost reduction, improved operational performance, and cash flow in dynamic environments. She is a business partner who drives continuous improvement leveraging cross functional relationships. She also has a passion for mentoring others. She is active in TE’s WIN ERG as the NA sponsor and Global development pillar sponsor.
Cameron Perkins
Cameron Perkins has served on Cary Christian Board for 12+ years. Holding roles as President, Vice President, and Treasurer over this tenure, he has worked with several headmasters to steward the original vision and mission of Cary Christian School. He and his wife Lisa have 2 graduates of CCS and 2 children still attending. He has served on the board of directors for Western Wake Young Life, Ronald McDonald House of Durham, Halftime, and served in various capacity at church.
He has a 20+ years of experience in healthcare, as a provider and an executive leader, scaling healthcare practices in many different specialties. His career began as an emergency medicine and critical care provider in North Carolina. He and a partner founded FastMed Urgent Care in 2001, which they grew into a leading national urgent care platform, with several successful recapitalizations. He then transitioned to an executive coach and board member for multiple private equity backed multi location healthcare services companies and is an Executive Partner with Shore Capital Partners. Cameron also been in leadership roles within venture capital, medical device, and not for profit organizations.
Rick Wharton
As a Regional Vice President for Avaya, Rick Wharton is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction for Avaya’s Fortune 1,000 customers while profitably growing the company’s market share and revenue. Prior to his current position, Wharton was the GM for Government, Education and Medical accounts.
Wharton received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Administration from Indiana Universities Kelley School of Business with a minor in Computer Science. Over the span of a 35-year career, Wharton served in various leadership roles within AT&T, Lucent and Avaya covering a myriad of disciplines including sales, engineering, finance, logistics, marketing, manufacturing, and international countertrade.
Wharton became a vigorous champion for Classical Christian Education particularly after years of coaching and mentoring young people. Soon after graduating from college, he taught mathematics and coached football and soccer at a public school in Orlando, Florida while establishing the school’s first Fellowship of Christian Athletes group. He served on the Boards of YFC and Champions for Kids where he also assisted as a mentor and tutor for at risk children. For thirteen years, Wharton served on the Board of Cary Christian School (CCS) as President and Vice-President. Additionally, Wharton coached women’s soccer for fifteen years and men’s football for fourteen years at CCS. He is a frequent speaker and panel guest at universities covering an array of topics such as career planning, interviewing skills, negotiations, and business ethics.
Wharton has been married to his wife, JoAnn for 37 years. They have four grown children and two grandchildren. Their children attended CCS throughout their primary years until they graduated.
The Endowment Fund shall be managed by an Endowment Fund Committee of five (5) or more individuals appointed by the Board (“Committee”). Each Committee member shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years and may be re-appointed to successive terms. The Treasurer of the School shall serve as an ex officio, voting member of the Committee, and Chair of the Committee (“Chair”). The committee meets quarterly.
ABOUT THE ENDOWMENT
No funds shall be withdrawn from the Endowment Fund until its initial balance shall reach Five Million and No/100 Dollars ($5,000,000.00), at which time the income of the Endowment Fund, as determined by the CCS Board in accordance with appropriate accounting guidelines, may be expended to support the programs and activities of CARY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL. The Board may not permit distributions from the principal of the Endowment Fund.
The Endowment Fund specifically shall be governed, except as otherwise provided herein, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 36E of the North Carolina General Statutes (or any successor provision), the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (“UPMIFA”). Distributions may be made as necessary.
The Committee shall be responsible for investing the assets in the Endowment Fund and shall do so in accordance with the fiduciary standards set forth in UPMIFA in accordance with the Investment Policy Statement approved by the Board. The Endowment Fund shall be managed by an investment advisor selected by the Committee and approved by the Board. The Committee shall review the investments of the Endowment Fund with the investment manager at least twice per year.
The Chair of the Committee shall provide semi-annual reports to the Board describing the Endowment Fund balance, investment performance calendar year-to-date, and a summary of Fund receipts and expenses during the current calendar year.
Smith Salley Wealth Management is the fiduciary registered investment advisor. Charles Schwab is the investment platform holding the endowment funds.
An investment policy statement, approved by the CCS board, provides guidelines and parameters for the investment and management of the Endowment Fund.
The CCS finance team will be responsible for transferring Endowment Fund donations to the Charles Schwab account.
