Let Us Pray for Persecuted Christians

Dear Lord, Please help the kids and people of Pakistan. Please protect the suffering of kids and young adults. Please give food to the needy, health to the sick, homes to the homeless, education to the children, protection for the persecuted, strength to the weak, discipline to the people of Pakistan, and please give hope to the hopeless. I hope you can protect them, Lord. I hope you will stop the persecution and hate to these kids. Please lay your hand over these kids and draw them closer and closer to your sovereignty. Comfort the kids and people of Pakistan who are trying to build a relationship with you and take away their fear of dying the next day by persecution. These kids truly need you and I hope you can protect them.

— Jadon Elkins, Grade 8 (In light of the Logic School convocation)

Health Office

Here we are with less than four weeks of school left in the year. For some of us it is exciting to count down these last days of the year, however for many of us it can be a stressful few weeks as we try to get everything completed.

Remember the importance of drinking water and staying hydrated. As the temperatures rise throughout the next two months and into the summer, it is critical we all realize that in order for our bodies to function well, it is important to fuel them with adequate food and water daily. Taking in the proper amount of water will decrease mental and physical stress, help to avoid injuries, prevent blackouts and fainting, improve exhaustion and fatigue, decrease headaches and GI upset, and reduce overheating when outside on warmer days. This time of year when the mornings are bright, the sun shines all day, and the days seem longer, many of us feel rejuvenated and ready for Spring cleaning, outdoor activities, or vacations with our families, but without proper hydration and food intake we can feel beat down, sluggish, and cannot perform at our best or make the most out of each day.

Springtime (Quarter 4) is also when the Health office gets busy with students needing repeat health visits, relating to many of the symptoms listed above. NOW is the perfect time to remind ALL your children, students, (and yourselves) to drink plenty of water and eat regularly throughout the day. This will not only prevent visits to the Health office, but will also lead to healthier and happier kids.

Happy Spring; we are almost there!

STAY HYDRATED! STAY HEALTHY!

Wednesday, May 1 – CCS Robotics Team Debut/Workshop – We are excited to announce the reveal of the CCS Robotics Team. Over the last year, Rhetoric School students have been working hard to create a functional robot. In March, they competed in a FTC competition and earned the Judge’s Choice Award for their remarkable progress as a rookie team. FIRST, the organization that runs this program, is a globally recognized non-profit that promotes STEM through robotics competitions. We are excited about this program because it offers our students a strong introduction to engineering that they could not receive elsewhere. The team is hosting a Robotics Debut/Workshop for any interested students or parents to learn about the team. Drive the robot, learn about its design process, talk with the members, and more! The Tundrabots, an older team that is mentoring this team, will assist and support with the event. They are bringing their competition field and robot as well. Our team is looking for a head coach and volunteers. If you are an adult who has any experience with this area of work (construction, engineer, designer, electrician, carpenter, etc.), talk to us at the event or message one of the leaders. If you are interested in promoting STEM at CCS, we would appreciate any type of support. For more information please email one of the co-leaders, Isaac Young, Daniel Jacob, or Mr. Hinton.
