A Letter from the Health Office

Here we are with just a few weeks of school left in the year. For some of us, it is exciting to count down these last days of the year. However, for many of us, it can be a stressful few weeks as we try to get everything completed.

This is a friendly reminder from the Health Office to all of you: Remember the importance of drinking water and staying hydrated. As the temperatures rise throughout the month of May and into the summer, it is critical we all realize that for our bodies to function well, it is important to fuel them with adequate food and water daily. Taking in the proper amount of water will decrease mental and physical stress, help to avoid injuries, prevent blackouts and fainting, improve exhaustion and fatigue, decrease headaches and GI upset, and reduce overheating when outside on warmer days. This time of year when the mornings are bright, the sun shines all day, and the days seem longer, many of us feel rejuvenated and ready for Spring cleaning, outdoor activities, or vacations with our families, but without proper hydration and food intake we can feel beat down, sluggish, and cannot perform at our best or make the most out of each day.

Springtime (4th Quarter) is also when the Health Office gets busy with students needing repeat health visits, relating to many of the symptoms listed above. NOW is the perfect time to remind ALL your children, students, and yourselves to drink plenty of water and eat regularly throughout the day. This will prevent visits to the Health Office but will also lead to healthier and happier kids.

Happy Spring; we are almost there!

STAY HYDRATED! STAY HEALTHY!
