Friday, January 20 – Grammar School Spelling Bee – The top three winners from each 3rd-5th Grade class will compete in our Grammar School Spelling Bee to identify a winner to represent our school at the regional level. Participants will wear dress uniform on this day. C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S to our spellers! 

 

Friday, January 27 – 100th Day of School – The Kindergarten classes will be celebrating the milestone of 100 days of Kindergarten! We will highlight the number 100 with many fun activities, with counting, and with making a list of 100 things for which we are thankful. 

 

Wednesday, February 1Second Grade Assembly – Our Second Graders will take to the stage to present what they have been learning.  We welcome parents and friends to join this Second Grade Showcase, followed by a time of fellowship in the classroom.  There will be an early release for second graders following the assembly and reception.

REGISTER: Battle for the American Mind – On February 8, at 7:00 P.M., join us for an exciting evening with the president of the ACCS (Association of Classical Christian Schools), David Goodwin, and Fox News Anchor, Pete Hegseth. Their book, Battle for the American Mind, presents a compelling argument for classical, Christian education. Come learn more about the great value a distinctly classical and distinctly Christian education offers as we seek to raise the next generation. Seating is limited, so click here to register for this event.

Saturday, January 21 – Rhetoric School Snow Ball Dance (9th-12th Grade) – We look forward to our Annual Snow Ball Dance on January 21 at 7:00 P.M. in our school gym.  Parents, please review your student’s attire before they arrive at the dance.  Students, please arrive after 6:50 P.M.  Class pictures begin at 7:00 P.M.  It’s going to be a great evening! 

 

Wednesday, January 25 – Senior Parent Meeting – All senior parents are strongly encouraged to attend, and we ask for at least one parent to be in attendance. We will cover the topics of Graduation, Student Life, College Counseling, and finishing strong academically! We will also hear from student speakers and watch a thank you video from our friends at Iglesia Bautista La Gran Comision!

Rhetoric College Counseling Lunch and Learn – Drop-in lunch and learn sessions are intended for students and parents to ask general college counseling questions. Lunch and learn sessions are open for any 9th-12th grade student or parent.

Registration Open for Digital At-Home PSAT Practice Test – The CCS College Counseling Office and Compass Education Group will administer a FREE adaptive at-home Practice Digital PSAT to students in the 9th and 10th grades. The test mimics the computer-based test—question type, content, timing, duration, and adaptive structure—so students will get an early feel for what’s to come in fall 2023. Click here to register. The deadline to register is Wednesday, January 25. Note: If a student has a conflict with the date, he or she should still register to get the link. Students who registered, but don’t test on January 28, will get a follow-up email with instructions for testing on a different date.

Arts

 

24Hour Play Festival – On January 27 and 28, participating CCS Drama students will meet to rehearse pre-selected, student-directed one-act plays. They will work from 3:30 P.M. – 10:45 P.M. on Friday, and from 7 A.M. through the entire day on Saturday. As is standard format for 24-Hour Play Festivals, no formal rehearsals are allowed before that weekend. The highest ranked show will be CCS’s NCTC High School Play Festival entry next year. All CCS families are invited to attend the student performances on Saturday. No tickets are required. Please note that the last play of the evening is a student-written, student-directed play, which has a PG-13 rating for intense content.

Coed Logic School Winter Futsal – Coach Brose will host futsal training for Logic School students in the gym starting February 4. There will be a total of 6 weeks on Saturdays from 7:45 – 9:00 A.M. The cost is $120. If you are interested in participating, email jpoore@carychristianschool.org.

 

Women’s Golf Fall 2023 – We are exploring the possibility of having a Women’s Varsity Golf team next Fall. If your student is interested and in 7th grade or higher, please contact jpoore@carychristianschool.org.

 

Spring Sports – Spring sports officially start on February 13. Coaches will be sending out information about tryouts by the week of January 31. Some may offer preseason conditioning or skills training, but they will communicate directly with you based on last year’s roster or current sign-up sheet.
