Bold, surprising, boisterous, and timely, this Pride and Prejudice for a new era explores the absurdities and thrills of finding your perfect (or imperfect) match in life. Literature’s greatest tale of latent love has never felt so theatrical, or so full of life than it does in this effervescent adaptation.

Friday, May 5 – Parents in Prayer – Parents of Lower School students are invited to join prayer meetings throughout the Fourth Quarter that will foster community with one another as we intercede for our CCS family. There is no need to RSVP!

Friday, May 5 – Second Grade Zoo Field Trip – After studying mammals and reptiles this quarter and working hard on their animal research project, Second Graders look forward to their Field Trip to the NC Zoo to see and identify some of the animals they’ve studied.

Wednesday, May 10 – Classical Learning Test – Students in grades 3-8 will take the Classical Learning Test (CLT). The CLT is a standardized test that emphasizes intellectual aptitude and achievement and is grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Students should come to school prepared with a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast. They do not need to study or do anything additional to prepare for taking the test.  Your student’s scores will be available later in October 2023. 

  

Thursday, May 11 – Thesis Encore Night – You are invited to join us on May 11 as we hear from four of our top seniors in a special evening presentation. These students will speak on a variety of relevant and challenging biblical and cultural subjects. Each presentation will last 5-10 minutes, followed by a 10-15 minute period of dialogue answering questions from the audience. Click here to learn more!

Friday, May 12 – Kindergarten Mother’s Day Tea – This is a special time just for Moms and their Kindergarten students.  You bring the hugs. We’ll provide the tissues.

Friday, May 12 – Lower School Convocation – For the month of May, we are focusing on the biblical character trait of perseverance. We desire to do good work for God’s glory. Doing hard things grows us in faith and godliness. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). 

 

Saturday, May 13 – Concert on the Lawn: An Evening on Broadway – Cary Christian School Choral & Instrumental Arts proudly present an exciting evening of song and performance featuring a selection of timeless Broadway hits! This evening will showcase the talent and hard work of our Upper School Choral and Band students. From the golden age of musical theater to today’s modern shows, this evening of music will bring to life the romance and drama of songs from popular shows and beloved musicals. Lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics are welcome at this outdoor event! So, join us on the lawn to get swept away in the grandeur of Broadway. It’s sure to be an evening to remember!

Student Medication Pick-Up – Any parent who has prescription medications for their child(ren) stored at CCS, must come BEFORE the last day of school to take medication home. Please notify the Health Office to schedule a time for pickup (919-303-2560, ext. 212). NO medication of any type will be stored at CCS over the summer. 

 

Save the Date – Re-Threads – Re-Threads Consignment Sale will be held on Thursday, June 8, from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the Peace Church Fellowship Hall. Now is a great time to start gathering uniform pieces that kids have outgrown. The attached flyer will give you all the details on buying and selling. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer for Re-Threads, please contact Ellen Wentz at ewentz@carychristianschool.org or 919-931-3345.  Note: Volunteers will have the opportunity to shop the sale before the general public!

Wednesday, May 3 – Friday, May 5 – Eighth Grade Resurrection Debate – The Resurrection Debate is the capstone of the Logic School. This project synthesizes a variety of subjects into one project where the students learn to defend the most important truth in Christianity, the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Students analyze the worldviews of Secular Humanism, Islam, and Postmodernism, as well as the Christian worldview, in order to “give a defense for the hope that we have.” They combine the skills of reasoning learned in Logic, persuasive writing learned in Composition, and the theological significance of the Resurrection learned in Bible into several days of formal debate.

Thursday, May 18 – Senior Assembly – The Class of 2023 Senior families and their guests are cordially invited to attend this final and special end-of-year awards assembly! No tickets required. Senior Families will have labeled reserved seating for 6 people on the floor, with overflow seating “first come, first served” in the bleachers. Senior Memories displays will be able for viewing before and after Senior Assembly. Seniors will be dismissed with their families at the conclusion of the Assembly, and we encourage senior families to enjoy lunch with family and friends.

Monday, May 22, & Tuesday, May 23 – 2023 Fall Tryouts and Evaluations – Please click here for the tryout schedules. This change to our program (early tryouts) will position them for greater personal success and create a better experience for all. Your student will be evaluated for their sports skill level and be given information regarding summer practice schedule. Please note: Varsity Tennis tryouts begin Friday, May 12.

 

Sports Physicals – Carolina Family Practice is offering physicals this May. Physicals cost $10, and you must bring this form with you to the appointment. Please use this link to sign up. The dates and locations are:
