National Merit Scholar Semifinalists

We celebrate the success of six CCS students who have been named National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists. These students placed in the top 1% nationally out of 1,500,000 on the qualifying PSAT/NMSQT that they took in 2021. This class has the highest number of Semifinalists in our school’s history. We wish them well as they advance to the finalist round.

The Knights Podcast – Just War and the American Revolution

Join me in a conversation with Rhetoric School History teacher CJ Zbinden. He shares how he teaches the American Revolution to Seniors and what it looks like to dive into really important questions through the lens of History. Mr. Zbinden does a great job of helping his students navigate difficult topics by not teaching them WHAT to think, but rather HOW to think. Click here to listen!

Friday, September 16 – Lower School Convocation – For the month of September, we are focusing on the biblical character trait of self-control.  Self-control is a worthy goal, commended by God.  Self-control involves thinking before speaking or acting.  It requires not speaking or acting out of anger or frustration.  We will be learning the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23, and using Proverbs 29:11 to remind us, “A fool shows his anger.  A wise man keeps himself under control.”

Wednesday, September 21 – 4th Grade Wild Boy Feast – At the end of their novel, My Side of the Mountain, Fourth Graders will enjoy a Wild Boy Feast to experience some of the foods foraged, hunted, and eaten in the story.  “Wild boy!” he shouted.  “What a sanguine smell.  What a purposeful fire.  Breakfast in a tree.  Son, I toil from sunup to sundown, and never have I lived so well!”

Thursday, September 22 – Kindergarten Assembly – Kindergarteners will take the stage to present some patriotic songs and their first sound off, showcasing what they’ve learned in the first few weeks of kindergarten.  Parents, families, and friends are welcome to join.  There will be a brief reception in the classroom following the assembly.
