Friday, October 1 – Last Day to Sign Up for the Rhetoric School Hoedown Dance – 9th-12th Grade students, don’t forget to sign-up in the Commons Area for this fun event. We will enjoy a fall night of line-dancing on our football, Saturday, October 23, from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.

Thursday, October 21 – Senior Theme Day – First Responders Day. Thank you to the Keim and Pelikan families for last month’s special snack. We look forward to the special snack from Hellman and Tyndall families this month!

 

Thursday, October 21 – SSP Donations Due – Our seniors are going to Tennessee for their Capstone Service trip. We would like to send some donations with them. The needs include gift cards for Walmart, Amazon, and fast-food locations, children’s toiletries (shampoo/body wash-tear free, bubble bath, children’s toothpaste, children’s toothbrushes, hair brushes, combs, etc.), adult travel-sized toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, etc.). 

    • When: During Morning and Afternoon Carpool

Thursday, October 21 – Senior SSP Packing Day – Seniors will pack suitcases with the donations we plan to take to Tennessee.

College Counseling

 

Friday, October 1 – AP Exam-Only Registration Closes TOMORROW – AP Exam-Only registration (for students who are self-studying for an AP Exam) is now open for May 2022 AP Exams. Both steps must be completed by Friday, October 1.  Students who are in AP Classes at CCS (AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Physics) are already registered and have paid for the corresponding AP Exam.  No further action is needed from students in our AP Classes. To register:

 

Wednesday, October 13 – PSAT/NMSQT Testing – For our Sophomores and Juniors who have signed up to take the exam. 

    • When: 7:45 A.M. (Testing starts promptly at 8:00 A.M.)
    • Where: Gym

 

Wednesday, October 20 – Freshmen Parent and Student College Counseling Meeting – Parents and Freshmen are encouraged to attend! Ms. Smith will be going over the college admissions landscape, activities, transcripts, and more.

Sophomore Folders – Parents, if you didn’t attend the Sophomore meeting, your student received a folder from College Counseling in their lockers. Please make sure to check the folder for pertinent information.

9th Grade: What is wisdom? Can man attain wisdom?

10th Grade: How can we live into the truth that God is sufficient to meet our intellectual, physical, spiritual, and emotional needs, even in the face of suffering and the temptation to meet those needs with other things?

11th Grade: How can we understand and live well in a world of conflicting ideas and values?

12th Grade: Is it better to live a just or unjust life?

Important Dates

 

Friday, October 1 – Breast Cancer Awareness Night! Come out and support a great cause. A portion of gate and concession proceeds will be donated to Metavivor. Wear pink! We are playing Grace Christian. There is no admission charge for Cary Christian students and families.

Friday, October 1 – Middle School Volleyball and Soccer CAMSC tournaments Begin – All middle school players are expected to attend all practices and games.

 

Monday, October 11 – Varsity Fall Sports Will Continue During the Second Week of Break. All varsity students are expected to attend practices and games. Check with your coach for details.

 

Monday, October 18 – Middle School Winter Preseason Practices Begin – Bring running shoes and meet on main field after school. YOU MUST attend these preseason practices or you may not be allowed to tryout. JV football players will be exempt until their season is over.  

 

Tuesday, October 19 – NCISAA Tournament Games Begin – All sports except football and cross country. Cross country will compete in the state championship on October 29. Football playoffs begin November 5. More info to come once seeding info comes out.
