Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00 P.M. – Sandhills Classical Christian School Presents “An Evening with Dr. Ben Carson” – Dr. Carson will take the stage in the Arts & Athletics Center (1487 Rays Bridge Road, Whispering Pines, NC 28327), delivering remarks on the state of education in America, discussing the work he is doing at the American Cornerstone Institute, and talking about his new release Created Equal: The Painful Past, Confusing Present, and Hopeful Future of Race in America.

Lower School (K-5th)
– IMPORTANT DATES –
Thursday, January 25 – 100th Day of School – The Kindergarten classes will be celebrating the milestone of 100 Days of Kindergarten. We are looking forward to classroom activities and crafts that will highlight the number 100.
Tuesday, January 30 – Parents in Prayer Group – Please join us for an opportunity to gather with Lower School parents and pray for the teachers, administrators, students, and families at Cary Christian School. This group meets on the last Tuesday of every month.

Upper School (6th-12th)
– IMPORTANT DATES –
Friday, January 19 – Snow Ball Dance Practice – Students will practice their dance moves during Block 3. All students participate even if they are unable to attend Snow Ball. It is a fun time to be together!
Saturday, January 20 – Rhetoric School Snow Ball Dance (Grades 9-12) – We are excited about the annual Snow Ball Dance this Saturday! Click here to read more about details and attire for this fun celebration.

Wednesday, January 24 –Senior Parents Meeting –All Senior parents are strongly encouraged to attend, and we ask for at least one parent to be in attendance. We will cover the topics of Graduation, Student Life, College Counseling, and finishing strong academically! We will also hear from student speakers and see the SSP video.

Thursday, February 1 – Spanish Night at CCS– Featuring impromptu skits, music, dance lessons, poetry, and musical performances that are all about legends, myths, and Hispanic celebrations, these fun activities will be led by Senior students, culminating 3 years of Spanish immersion. Family and friends of Spanish students are welcome!

College Counseling
Respond by Tomorrow, January 19 – Career Connections Database – Parents, would you be interested in sharing about your career with our Rhetoric students on February 23 on Career Connections Day? We would love to have you participate! Please complete this short form so that we are familiar with your industry and position.
Saturday, January 27 – Sophomores and Juniors – ACT In-Home Practice – Use this opportunity to practice the digital ACT. To register, click here. The deadline to register is January 25. Once registered, you will receive a link from Compass Prep on Friday, January 26 to take the test on Saturday.
Wednesday, January 31 – Junior Student Survey Deadline – Juniors, if you missed last week’s College Counseling meeting, read this PowerPoint and complete the survey in Scoir by January 31. You must complete the survey and pick up your folder from Ms. Smith or Mrs. McGinnis prior to scheduling your individual meeting.
– ANNOUNCEMENTS –
Junior Individual Meetings – It’s time for Juniors and their parents to book their individual meetings with Ms. Smith. Use this link to select a time. Meetings that are scheduled after school will be held via Zoom. Meetings scheduled during the day will be in person and parents can join in person or via the Zoom link. In preparation for these meetings, students must complete the Rising Senior Survey in Scoir and parents must complete the Parent Brag Sheet.
Seniors – A few notes for you:
- Update your Scoir account as you hear back from colleges.
- Send Ms. Smith copies of scholarship offers as you receive them so she can enter your information into Scoir.
Co-Curriculars
– ARTS –
Saturday, January 27 – 24-Hour Play Festival – Four student-directed one-act plays will be produced in a mere 24 hours and presented to an audience and panel of adjudicators! No tickets required. Doors will open at 6:20 P.M.

- Where: Theater
- Event Details – Student casts and crews will arrive on Friday, January 26 at 3:30 P.M. with all lines memorized, but NO rehearsals will have taken place. We will rehearse until 10:00 P.M. that evening and resume again at 7:00 A.M. on Saturday morning. At 6:30 P.M. on Saturday, the plays will be presented to an audience, as well as a panel of adjudicators. Adjudicator feedback will be given on each piece, and one of the pieces will be chosen as the “winner” which will likely move forward to be the one-act we work on to present at the Fall NCTC Regional High School Play Festival.
Tuesday, January 23 (5:00-6:45 P.M.) – Track and Field Evaluations at Green Level High School – Any Logic or Rhetoric students interested in participating in Outdoor Track and Field for the spring season should attend. There will be no transportation to and from campus. Email Coach Megan Mansy with any questions.
Varsity Boys Tennis – We are excited to announce that we have a Varsity Boys Tennis team this Spring! Practices begin on February 12. If you are interested in playing, contact Coach Patrick Neighbors for more information.
Gold Girls Soccer – We are happy to announce that we have a Gold Girls Soccer team this Spring! Practices begin on February 12. If you are interested in playing, contact Coach Becky Myers for more information.
