– IMPORTANT DATES –
Friday, January 26 – Lost & Found – Families may look for lost items between 8:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. under the West Canopy (the side of the building closest to the baseball field). Any unclaimed items will be donated or discarded. Each week, campus-wide items are consolidated in the K-2 stairwell. If you cannot find your belongings in the hallway or gym bins, please check the K-2 stairwell throughout the month. If you have any questions, contact Ellen Wentz.
Wednesday, February 7 – Worship Night – Let’s join in worship together! All CCS K-12 students and parents are invited to attend this event that is led by our student worship team.

Friday, February 9 at 5:00 P.M. – “Honor a Teacher” Nomination Deadline – We have so many teachers worth honoring! It would be incredible to see them publicly recognized through this year’s “Honor a Teacher” Award conducted by the Cary Chamber of Commerce. This annual competition will select five teachers from 34 schools. To nominate a teacher, click here.
Nominees, once selected, are asked to complete an application. The finalists need to submit a video answering a few questions along with a resume and teaching philosophy. On Tuesday, May 14, each winner is recognized at a ceremony in Prestonwood Country Club and receives a check for $1,200. The Chamber’s business members sponsor this event.
– ANNOUNCEMENTS –
Snack Breaks – We have noticed that many of our students are looking for food to enhance their snacks and lunches provided from home. Please speak with your child(ren) to see if they may need more food packed to help them get through their busy day. Vending machines are located in both 1st Floor Stairwells and are available for students to use before and after school, during morning nutrition break, and at lunchtime. Credit cards and cash are accepted.

Lower School (K-5th)

TODAY! Thursday, January 25 – 100th Day of School – Our Kindergarten students have been faithfully tallying each day of school. Today, they celebrate the number 100 and put their counting skills into practice.
Tuesday, January 30 – Parents in Prayer Group – Please join us for an opportunity to gather with Lower School parents and pray for the teachers, administrators, students, and families at Cary Christian School. This group meets on the last Tuesday of every month.

Thursday, February 1 – Community Night – Grades 3 and 5 – Stop by Amberly Local for dinner with friends! Be sure to mention Cary Christian School when you order and a portion of all sales will go towards our school!
Friday, February 2 – 5th Grade Red, White, and Blue Day – The calendar might show the 2nd of February 2024; however, we are celebrating the 4th of JULY of 1776 in conjunction with our history lessons. We will have a special assembly as well as some fun activities and games. Fifth graders may wear a patriotic shirt and/or hat.
Wednesday, February 7 – Second Grade Assembly – This is a special time for our second graders to take the stage and share what they have been learning. Parents are invited to join us for a reception after the assembly. Early dismissal for second graders will occur after the reception.

Upper School (6th-12th)
– IMPORTANT DATES –
Thursday, February 1 – Spanish Night at CCS– Featuring impromptu skits, music, dance lessons, poetry, and musical performances that are all about legends, myths, and Hispanic celebrations, these fun activities will be led by Senior students, culminating 3 years of Spanish immersion. Family and friends of Spanish students are welcome!

College Counseling

Wednesday, January 31 – Junior Student Survey Deadline – Juniors, if you missed the College Counseling meeting, read this PowerPoint and complete the January Junior Meeting Survey in Scoir by January 31. You must complete the survey and pick up your folder from Ms. Smith or Mrs. McGinnis prior to scheduling your individual meeting.
– ANNOUNCEMENTS –
Junior Individual Meetings – It’s time for Juniors and their parents to book their individual meetings with Ms. Smith. Use this link to select a time. Meetings that are scheduled after school will be held via Zoom. Meetings scheduled during the day will be in person and parents can join in person or via the Zoom link. In preparation for these meetings, students must complete the Rising Senior Survey and Principles in Scoir and parents must complete the Parent Brag Sheet.
Seniors – A few notes for you:
- Update your Scoir account as you hear back from colleges.
- Send Ms. Smith copies of scholarship offers as you receive them so she can enter your information into Scoir.
- Complete FAFSA.
- If you need to meet with Ms. Smith, schedule via Calendly.
Co-Curriculars
– ARTS –
POSTPONED! AS OF 1/26/24 – STAY TUNED FOR NEW DATE – 24-Hour Play Festival – Be Our Guest! – Four student-directed one-act plays produced in a mere 24 hours will be presented to an audience and panel of adjudicators. No tickets required! Doors will open at 6:20 P.M.

- Event Details – Student casts and crews will arrive on Friday, January 26 at 3:30 P.M. with all lines memorized, but NO rehearsals will have taken place. We will rehearse until 10:00 P.M. that evening and resume again at 7:00 A.M. on Saturday morning. At 6:30 P.M. on Saturday, the plays will be presented to an audience, as well as a panel of adjudicators. Adjudicator feedback will be given on each piece, and one of the pieces will be chosen as the “winner” which will likely move forward to be the one-act we work on to present at the Fall NCTC Regional High School Play Festival.
TOMORROW – Friday, January 26 (4:30-6:15 P.M.) – Track and Field Makeup Evaluations at Green Level High School (7600 Roberts Road, Cary) – Any Logic or Rhetoric students still interested in participating in Outdoor Track and Field for the spring season should attend this if they missed the evaluation earlier this week. An evaluation is required in order to be eligible. Email Coach Megan Mansy with any questions.
Varsity Boys Tennis – We are excited to announce that we have a Varsity Boys Tennis team this Spring! Practices begin on February 12. If you are interested in playing, contact Coach Patrick Neighbors for more information.
Gold Girls Soccer – We are happy to announce that we have a Gold Girls Soccer team this Spring! Practices begin on February 12. If you are interested in playing, contact Coach Becky Myers for more information.
