Thursday, May 18 – Class of 2023 Graduation TONIGHT – Graduation tickets are now available! We are looking forward to honoring the Class of 2023 at our Commencement Ceremony.  Click here to reserve seats.  If you have any questions, please email Leah Thomsen.

    • Parking: Overflow parking is at Peace Presbyterian Church (1777 W. Chatham St.). Shuttles will run from 5:30 – 9:30 P.M.  

  

Monday, May 22 & Tuesday, May 23 – 2023 Fall Tryouts and Evaluations – Please click here for the tryout schedules. This change to our program (early tryouts) will position our athletes for greater personal success and create a better experience for all. Your student will be evaluated for their sports skill level and be given information regarding a summer practice schedule.

  

Tuesday, May 23 – Lower School Field Day – Let’s get ready for Field Day on Tuesday, May 23! Consider sending your child with a hat to wear and sunscreen applied. Please send a labeled water bottle and disposable snack and lunch on this day. We will use normal carpool drop off in the morning and early release at 12:15 in the afternoon.  

    • Volunteer: We appreciate all who have signed up already to help your class for our Field Day Events. If you have not already signed up and would be willing to help, we could still use volunteers to help run several of the events, help setup, time students, and clean up the event at the end. Please check out this link and sign up to help if you can.

Thursday, June 8 – Re-Threads – Now is a great time to start gathering uniform pieces that kids have outgrown for the Re-Threads Consignment Sale. The attached flyer will give you all the details on buying and selling. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer for Re-Threads, please contact Ellen Wentz at ewentz@carychristianschool.org or 919-931-3345.  Note: Volunteers will have the opportunity to shop the sale before the general public!

Lost & Found TOMORROW – Each month, the lost and found items are set out under the K-2 Recess Canopy/3-5 Carpool Canopy (the side of our building closest to the baseball field). Families may come and look for lost items between 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. Any items left will be donated or discarded.  Please note: each week items campus-wide are consolidated in the K-2 stairwell.  If you cannot find your items in the hallway or gym bins, please check the K-2 stairwell throughout the month.  If you have any questions, please contact Ellen Wentz at ewentz@carychristianschool.org. 

 

Summer Reading – Join us as we journey together through the pages of great books this summer! The books will be sent home with the students during the last week of school to be read over the summer individually or as a family. There will not be a graded assessment upon return in the fall, but make sure you complete the reading, so that you will be able to participate in the related book activities and discussions that will kick off our fall semester.

FINAL REMINDER – Student Medication Pick-Up – Any parent who has prescription medications for their child(ren) stored at CCS, must come BEFORE the last day of school to take medication home. Please notify the Health Office to schedule a time for pickup (919-303-2560, ext. 212). NO medication of any type will be stored at CCS over the summer.

Summer Traffic Flow – Due to construction taking place this summer, the driveway around the school will be blocked off. Plan to follow the pictured traffic flow beginning May 31. Parking in front of the school, on both sides, and along the driveway will be available. The normal traffic flow will resume before the start of the 2023-24 school year. Contact Jim Dickman or Tim McWilliams if you have any questions.

Friday, May 19 – Last House of the School Year – We will celebrate our final House of the school year with water activities! Students may bring a towel labeled with their name as well as clothing as listed below. Get ready for a great day!  

    • Logic School: Please wear your uniforms to school on Friday and bring a change of clothes (dark t-shirt and modest shorts) to change into before House. 
    • Rhetoric School: Please wear your uniforms to school and bring a change of clothes (dark t-shirt and modest shorts) to participate in the water activities. Rhetoric students should change back into their uniforms for 4th block.

Tuesday, May 23 – 6th Grade Field Trip to the U.S. Airborne and Special Operations Museum – 6th graders are taking a history field trip all day Tuesday (8:30 A.M. – 2:30 P.M.) to Fayetteville, NC, to the U.S. Airborne and Special Operations Museum. 6th grade parents should have received a link to the parent permission form that must be filled out and submitted by Friday, May 19. Students should bring a disposable bagged lunch and drink. Attire is daily uniform with comfortable shoes. 

 

Wednesday, May 24 – Thursday, May 25 – Rhetoric Final Exams (9-11 Grade) – All 9th – 11th grade students will sit for their final exams on May 24-25. No hot lunch ordering is available these days. Please make transportation arrangements for school drop off/pick up according to the following schedule. Note: May 25 is the last day of school this year. Our annual Rhetoric School End of Year Awards Assembly is on Thursday, May 25, immediately following Exams in the CCS Theater. Parents – please join us!

College Essay Bootcamp – The College Essay Bootcamp will serve the class of 2024 through workshopping Common App essays before they begin their senior year coursework. By the end of the week, students will learn in-depth strategies for writing college essays, students will have personal time to workshop with Ms. Smith and Mrs. Clarkson, and students will leave with a finished essay ready to submit. Senior Final Transcripts – Final Transcripts for Seniors will be sent in early June to the school where the student is matriculating as indicated in Scoir. Ms. McGinnis will also mail a copy to each Senior to keep in his/her records.  

  

AP Scores – AP Scores will be available directly from College Board in mid-July. Seniors, if you want your AP Score sent to your college, you must go onto College Board to request their free score and send by June 20. Underclassmen, it is recommended that you wait until Senior year to send your scores to a college.

Thursday, May 11 – Wednesday, May 24 – The Fine Arts League of Cary’s Wake County Teen Exhibition – Six of our own CCS students are featured during this show: Landon Seitz, Ella Warren, Tori Stonebraker, Ashley Chae, Evangeline Menendez, and Yeji Na.
